X Corp sues anti-hate campaigners over Twitter research

The company that owns Twitter, now known as X, is taking legal action against a group that fights hate online. The Center for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH) dared to criticise the platform’s practices, and now X Corp is firing back, claiming the CCDH used “unlawful acts” to get their hands on sensitive data.

In a dramatic twist, the CCDH hit back, pointing fingers at none other than X Corp’s owner, billionaire Elon Musk. They accuse him of trying to stifle anyone who dares to criticise him. Elon Musk, on his part, has previously declared himself a firm believer in “free speech absolutism.”

The CCDH is a not-for-profit organisation working hard to research and combat online hate. Their reports have been making waves in the media, even catching the attention of the BBC.

The CEO of CCDH, Imran Ahmed, didn’t hold back in expressing his thoughts. He slammed Elon Musk’s latest legal threats, comparing them to tactics used by authoritarian regimes. According to Mr. Ahmed, hate and disinformation are running rampant on the platform under Musk’s ownership.

Amidst the legal showdown, Ahmed accuses the big boss at X Corp of trying to “shoot the messenger” instead of dealing with the real issues at hand.
