As the cost of living crisis continues, thousands of Britons are looking for a helping hand when it comes to day-to-day living.

Thankfully, as the cost of, well, everything, increases, the Government has introduced a number of measures to help ease the pressure.

As well as this, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has seen a rise in Universal Credit payments in line with the September 2022 inflation rate.

This uplift in payments from April 2023 impacted people on benefits such as Universal Credit, Personal Independence Payment and Carer’s Allowance, as well as Income Support, Housing Benefit, and Jobseeker’s Allowance.

What’s more, some people on Universal Credit could receive a boost of more than £500 this month.

How? Here’s what you need to know.

Who will receive a boost from Universal Credit this month?

Families who receive Universal Credit could see more money arrive in their banks as they can claim more back on their childcare.

The move comes as the Government strives to help those struggling to get back into work, including parents facing mounting childcare fees.

As of June 28, the DWP will raise the maximum amount that parents on Universal Credit can claim back monthly for their childcare for one or multiple children.

The amount parents can claim back will rise to £951 for one child and £1,630 for two or more children in an increase of almost 50%.

The previous caps were £646 for one child or £1,108 for two or more children, so this is a huge boost for parents.

The change was announced as part of Jeremy Hunt’s autumn budget to encourage people back into work or to increase their hours.

There will also be an expansion of childcare as part of the budget plans that is sure to be a welcome relief for parents across the UK.

If you’re wondering when the new rate of Universal Credit, which went up in April, will be paid to you, these are the key dates you need to know:

Universal Credit new payment date rates

The new rate should have been paid on the following dates:

April 28 to May 27 assessment period – paid June 3 (will have gone in on June 2 as June 3 is a Saturday)
April 29 to May 28 assessment period – paid June 4 (will have gone in on June 2 as June 4 is a Sunday)
April 30 to May 29 assessment period – paid June 5
May 1 to May 31 assessment period – paid June 7
May 2 to June 1 assessment period – paid June 8
May 3 to June 2 assessment period – paid June 9
May 4 to June 3 assessment period – paid June 10 – will go in on June 9 as June 10 is a Saturday
May 5 to June 4 assessment period – paid June 11 (will go in on June 9 as June 11 is a Sunday)

If you haven’t seen a change in what you receive from Universal Credit, you need to contact DWP.
