Charlie Puth revealed he penned a tune while getting down to business in the bedroom and came up with the idea halfway through having sex.
The 31-year-old New Jersey native admitted Marks on Your Neck from his latest album Charlie got its melody from an intimate moment experienced by the star.
Explaining his potential banger’s conception, Charlie shared how he conjured up the steamy track and it had quite the saucy beginnings.
He said: ‘I wrote the song in the middle of the act, maybe I should have focused on the act a little bit more, but the melody just kind of popped into my head and I actually had stopped and recorded a little quick voice note and then had to get back into the act.’
Charlie continued telling Interview magazine: ‘But that’s where that melody came from. I was getting over somebody and what better way [to do that] than meet new people?’
The We Don’t Talk Anymore revealed there was no love lost in the situation as he didn’t intend on creating a future with the other individual.

He explained: ‘It probably wasn’t going to work out with this person and that was what I was energetically picking up, which is OK.
‘It’s all about the experience. And I remember waking up and looking at myself in the mirror, noticing these marks on my neck, and every day they’d heal and fade but so would the person who put them on me. And we went our separate ways.
‘I’m thankful for the experience and maybe they are as well but I just thought it was interesting that a person can fade away at the same pace of the scars on your neck.’

The celebrated singer has never been one to shy away from his sexuality and has opened up about incorporating his ‘horniness’ into songwriting in the past.
Charlie told Bustle: ‘I’m really horny. I think to be a creative, you have to be a little bit.’

He also revealed to the publication the story of how he lost his virginity at 21 after playing a gig in Boston: ‘This girl came up to me and was like, “Can you sign my chest?” I was like, I feel like a rock star.
‘I never saw her again. She was lovely, but it makes me sad sometimes because I wish the older version of me was like, “Hey, you might want to just make this like a little more memorable”.’
