EastEnders star Shona McGarty has revealed a potential new romance following her split from co-star Max Bowden.
The Whitney Dean and Ben Mitchell actors had a six month romance, but announced their split in October 2022, claiming that it wasn’t ‘the right time’.
They seemingly confirmed their romance in August 2022, with pictures posted to Instagram by Shona.
One photo showed Max with his arm around her as they smiled for the camera at the House and Classics Festival in Essex, while another saw them making kissing faces at each other.
However, the romance wasn’t to be, with one source claiming that life for Max was ‘too complicated’ with a relationship on top of everything else.
‘There has been a lot going on in Max’s life and things were just getting too complicated with Shona being involved. Max will always have a lot of love and respect for Shona but it’s just not the right time,’ the source told The Sun at the time.
‘Everyone is trying to make things as least awkward as possible on set – luckily they don’t have many scenes together.’
Following the split, Shona has teased that there is a new love interest on the horizon.
‘I’m speaking to someone at the moment but it’s very early days,’ she told The Mirror.
She also revealed that her relationship with Max is ‘better than ever’ and that they are still good friends.

‘It’s lovely to be here tonight because Max’s mum’s here and I haven’t seen her for ages, I adore her.
‘So it’s lovely to catch up with her. We’re actually better than ever. It’s a friendship, we’re such in a good place.
‘You take a risk, and you do something and it doesn’t work out, but that’s life, you’ve got to take that risk.’
At work, Shona and Max have both been incredibly busy, having been involved in some of the biggest storylines this year.

Whitney’s baby was diagnosed with Edwards’ syndrome, leaving her and partner Zack Hudson (James Farrar) to make the difficult decision to terminate the pregnancy.
She gave birth to baby Peach in heart breaking scenes, which scooped up a nomination for Scene of the Year at the British Soap Awards.
Following the tragedy, Whitney and Zack have decided to make a go of things and began dating officially.
Meanwhile, Ben Mitchell has been trying to deal with the untimely death of Lola Pearce (Danielle Harold) while also battling bulimia.
