As Tottenham look for a permanent manager to replace Antonio Conte, a surprise contender has emerged in the form of Burnley boss Vincent Kompany.
The Manchester City legend has been doing a fabulous job with the Clarets, his first managerial role in English football, as his team sit 13 points clear at the top of the Championship.
Burnley may have only been relegated from the Premier League last season but it was no easy job to bring them straight back to the top flight after losing a string of players and not in the sturdiest financial state.
However, Kompany has worked wonders and lost just two of 37 league matches in the uber-competitive Championship and it is no surprise other clubs are looking at him.
It may be a bit of a surprise that Tottenham are casting an eye on him, though, but that is what The Sun reports, describing the Belgian as a ‘leading contender’ for the job.
Kompany is certainly not fancied by the bookmakers to be the next permanent Spurs boss, with Julian Nagelsmann still the clear favourite for the gig.
The former Bayern Munich manager is out of work and available, and it is him along with ex-Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino who remain the most likely to get the job.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has placed Crisitan Stellini in charge for the rest of the season, with long-term coach Ryan Mason his assistant.
Their first game in command comes around on Monday night at Everton as they hope to improve their chances of a top four finish.
