James’ sudden decision about their impending nuptials left Ste in shock (Picture: Lime Pictures)
James Nightingale (Gregory Finnegan) decided to seize the day in Hollyoaks after a heart-to-heart with Juliet (Niamh Blackshaw), opting to bring his wedding to Ste Hay (Kieron Richardson) forward.
The solicitor, as viewers know, popped the question to Ste during a romantic Valentine’s Day proposal that gave us all the feels, getting down on one knee in front of a pub full of punters.
The grooms-to-be have been planning their wedding, which was booked in for next February, ever since, with conflict aplenty over the attendees and outfit choices.
Juliet, who is battling cancer, was subsequently tasked with the duty of wedding planner, with Wednesday’s (March 29) first look offering of the Channel 4 soap seeing her kick things off with a day of suit fittings for the two grooms.
Jules, however, decided that she wouldn’t be attending the wedding after trying on her bridesmaid dress, worried that those in attendance would be more focused on her illness as opposed to the happy occasion, which left Peri Lomax (Ruby O’Donnell) determined to talk her around.
James, meanwhile, offered his thoughts on the matter, insisting that Juliet attend – telling her that he’ll need her support for his big day, which ultimately led to her reconsidering.

After giving it some more thought, James asked Ste why they were waiting until next year to get hitched, suggesting that they throw caution to the wind and bring the ceremony forward – without all the bells and whistles.
Ste, delighted, commented that he loves James when he’s impulsive like this, giving him a number of kisses and his blessing to do just that.

Without having to fork out for an expensive wedding, James will be able to focus on spending his cash on private treatment for his sister, who is awaiting a stem cell transplant.
The lawyer doesn’t quite have enough funds for such a thing, however, but he’s set to do whatever it takes to acquire the cash, even if that means cutting a deal with incel Eric Foster (Angus Castle-Doughty), who is facing 15 years in jail.
Hollyoaks continues Thursday March 30 at 7pm on E4 or stream the next episode from midnight on All4.
