Schitt’s Creek executive producer Ben Feigin has died aged 47.

A representative for Feigin confirmed that he died on Monday due to complications with pancreatic cancer.

Deadline also reported that the producer played a ‘key role’ in the hit sitcom – which starred Dan Levy and his father Eugene Levy – by finding non-traditional financing to sell the Canadian comedy.

Feigin was also the genius behind the programme’s pop-up immersive experience that turned into a global success in 2019.

The late star also won multiple awards for his work on the show, and for the final season Feigin won a Golden Globe for best musical or comedy television series, an Emmy for outstanding comedy series, and a PGA award for outstanding producer of episodic television for a comedy.

In 2020 and 2021, Feigin also won a GLAAD Media Award for best comedy series.

Schitt’s Creek ran for six seasons from 2015 to 2020, and also starred Catherine O’Hara, Annie Murphy and Jennifer Robertson.

Before his stellar career took off, Feigin graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara before beginning at Warner Bros, then moved to UTA, The Collective, and Amblin Entertainment,

During his time at Warner Bros, he also oversaw hit shows like ER, The West Wing, and Friends.

Feigin also contributed to an exhibit about the Chicano Art Movement for the Grammy Museum and creative artistic commissions for former US President Barack Obama.

Services will take place at Mount Sinai Cemetery in Hollywood Hills on Thursday [October 27].

Feigin is survived by his wife, talent agent Heidi Feigin, and their 11-year-old daughter, Ellie.
