Bodies of family kidnapped at gunpoint in California found
An eight-month baby girl, her parents and her uncle have been found dead in an orchard in California – just days after they were kidnapped at gunpoint.
The baby girl Aroohi Dheri, her parents Jasleen Kaur and Jasdeep Singh, and her uncle Amandeep Singh, were kidnapped by a man on Monday from their business in Merced, San Joaquin Valley.
Their bodies have now been found in a Merced County orchard.
The family’s truck was found on fire on Monday and a farmer found a phone belonging to one of the victims on a street in Dos Palos.
The four were kidnapped by a convicted robber who had tried to kill himself a day after the kidnappings.
No ransom demands were made but officials believe the kidnapping was financially motivated and he may have had an accomplice.
The suspect is 48-year-old Jesus Salgado, whose relatives had contacted authorities to report he had admitted to them he was involved.
He had attempted to take his own life before police arrested him at a home in Atwater.
He is now under medical sedation.
