Johnny Depp to make surprise appearance at 2022 MTV VMAs
Johnny Depp is expected to make a surprise appearance at the 2022 MTV VMAs next weekend, according to TMZ.
Depp has reportedly been in talks with the show’s production team to dress up as the famous Moonman mascot. He will “show face” at some point during the broadcast.
Over his career, Depp has taken home five Moonmen statutes – including Best Male Performance, Best Villian, Global Superstar and the Generation Award in 2012.
His expected appearance would come just a few months after he won his famous defamation trial against his ex-wife Amber Heard.
A jury decided Amber Heard defamed Depp when she wrote a 2018 Washington Post opinion piece about sexual violence – she was ordered to pay him $15 million.
Depp’s career is slowly getting back on track, after being dropped from projects in recent years following Heard’s allegations.
He will direct a film about Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani and produce the movie alongside Al Pacino and Barry Navidi.
He has also been linked to a multi-year, seven-figure deal to appear as the celebrity face of Dior’s bestselling Sauvage cologne, TMZ reported.
