Travellers again stuck in broken Thalys train without aircon

Travellers found themselves trapped on a broken Thalys train without air conditioning for hours on Sunday, resulting in three people becoming unwell.

It’s the second time in a week travellers have been stuck on a broken Thalys train.

The train from Disneyland to Amsterdam broke down for unknown reasons around 17:00 on Sunday. There was no air con due to the fact the train had no power, meaning around 270 people were stuck in the sweltering train on a stretch of track in La Somme, France for around 2.5 hours.

They were eventually able to get off the train and wait outside in over 30-degree heat for a replacement train from Paris.

French newspaper Courrier Picard reported that three people became unwell and ambulances were reported to be at the scene. No one needed hospitalisation.

A new train arrived around 21:00 to take the passengers further on their journey.

Only last week, another Thalys train broke down just outside Saint-Denis station in Paris. More than 600 people were trapped without aircon as some passengers were forced to break a window to let in air. People on the platform threw bottles of water into the train.
