PMQs Today roundup: ‘Powerful attack lines’ aren’t landing

In the first PMQs today after the Prime Minister survived a no-confidence vote, it became incredibly heated in the chamber.

Labour leader Keir Starmer focused his questions on the government’s record on the NHS, while the SNP’s Westminster leader, Ian Blackford, called Mr Johnson, who was fined in April for attending an illegal Downing Street gathering during the lockdown, a “dead man walking”.

PMQs best moments: ‘Powerful attack lines’ aren’t landing “Pretending no rules were broken didn’t work. “Pretending the economy is booming didn’t work. “And pretending to build 40 new hospitals won’t work either.”

Blackford called Boris Johnson a “lame duck”

Ian Blackford called Boris Johnson a “lame duck” prime minister and likened him to the black knight in Monty Python during his speech at Prime Minister’s Questions on Wednesday (8 June).

Johnson thanked Blackford for his “characteristic warm words” and said that the SNP leader was the glue keeping the United Kingdom together. Blackford repeated his calls for the PM to resign, saying that 41 per cent of Tory backbenchers were with him.

Johnson vows to get on with being Prime Minister

Bitter Tory rebels plot to scupper Boris’s master plan to override the EU deal.

The prime minister’s victory in the confidence vote means that, under Conservative Party rules, he cannot face another such test of his leadership for another year. Boris Johnson vows to get on with being prime minister.
