Police to investigate No 10 party — the Met Police will investigate multiple Downing Street lockdown parties
Breaking news – Finally! The Metropolitan Police have launched an investigation into the parties that were held in No 10 during restrictions and lockdown.
Met Police chief Cressida Dick said the police will be looking into “potential breaches of Covid-19 regulations” in Downing Street and Whitehall since 2020 – when the pandemic began.
She said the investigation was launched as a “result of the information provided by the Cabinet Office inquiry team”, led by civil servant Sue Gray.
According to the BBC, it is understood Sue Gray’s report won’t be published while police investigate.
“I can confirm that the Met is now investigating a number of events that took place at Downing Street and Whitehall in the last two years”

Dick did not confirm which parties were being investigated by the Met and even though Covid rule-breaking can lead to fixed penalty notices, the police inquiry did not mean they would be issued “in every instance and to every person involved.”
Angela Rayner has called for PM Boris Johnson to resign again, calling him a “national distraction.”
The latest news comes following fresh allegations of another No 10 party – this one for the prime minister’s birthday.
Downing Street has admitted that staff gathered inside No 10 to celebrate the prime minister’s birthday when the first Covid lockdown was still in place. But there are disagreements over the number of people who attended and called for “patience” while Sue Gray’s inquiry is being carried out.
