Death row killer orders huge last meal as he begs court to halt execution
Daily Mirror says a death-row killer in Oklahoma put in an extravagant order for his last meal including burgers, chips, cookies and half a gallon of Neapolitan ice cream.
John Marion Grant was sentenced to death for the 1998 killing of Gay Carter, a member of staff at the prison where he was doing time for robbery.
He was due to be executed by lethal injection on Thursday but now a US federal court has put it temporarily on hold due to an appeal.
It would have been the first death sentence carried out in more than six years in Oklahoma due to controversy over the lethal injections. The state of Oklahoma said it would appeal to the US Supreme Court in a bid to carry out the execution as scheduled.
