Bristol knife attacker ARRESTED after forcing staff to hide in safe room
A knife attacker, who forced staff at a petrol station in Bristol to hide inside a safe room, has been arrested.
Loud bangs and bright flashes were reported as police say a man was detained at the scene.
Around half a dozen loud “bangs” were heard from inside the petrol station before the man was arrested.
“We have detained a man in connection with an incident at a petrol station on Hengrove Way this morning. Investigations at the scene continue,” Avon and Somerset Police said.
Armed officers and a negotiator were at the scene. The force earlier said that “staff members are uninjured” and had hidden inside a “safe room” at the petrol station.
It said: “One person has left the scene and gone to hospital with injuries not believed life-threatening.”
Officers were called at 7:36am on Thursday and were at the scene by 7:41am, police added.
