Police: more than 600 officers and staff faced sexual misconduct allegations in last four years
The i says more than 600 members of UK police forces – including officers, sergeants, inspectors and civil staff – have faced sexual misconduct allegations since 2018.
An analysis by i, using data obtained by Freedom of Information requests from 37 forces across all four nations, and publicly available information from four others, shows that 604 people faced misconduct investigations over the complaints.
A total of 119 people (19 per cent) who were accused of sexual misconduct were later dismissed without notice over the claims, which included behaviours such as abusing their position for sexual gain, sexual harassment, assault, and rape.
