Spain could go on ‘amber plus’ travel list forcing holidaymakers to quarantine on return to UK

Ministers are reportedly considering removing France from the list – which contains countries from which travel to the UK is permitted on condition that arrivals self-isolate for up to 10 days – but replacing it with Spain, due to concerns over the prevalence of the Beta variant, which originated in South Africa.
It comes as senior Conservatives warn the effects of the pandemic on the travel industry could last years and damage the party at the polls, particularly in seats near large airports.
