Premier League footballer arrested on child sex allegations
The footballer, a senior international, was arrested by police last week and has been suspended by his club as police continue their investigations.
A Premier League footballer has been arrested on suspicion of child sex offences.
The 31-year-old man, who has not been named for legal reasons, was detained on Friday by Greater Manchester Police.
In a statement, the player’s club confirmed he had been suspended and added it would “continue supporting the authorities with inquiries and would not be commenting further”.
The footballer has since been bailed pending further inquiries.
The footballer has earned a fortune in wages and has attracted multi-million-pound transfer fees during his career, according to the Mirror.
The insider for the Mirror added: “Clearly this matter must be fully investigated. Allegations of this nature will cause a considerable amount of alarm among everyone within the club, the fans, and the wider public.
“This is now a case of waiting to see where the investigation takes us.”
