Euro 2020: England charge by Uefa after ‘laser’ penalty incident
Uefa has charged England after a laser pointer was shone at the Denmark goalkeeper during the England Demark semi-final match at Wembley.
Denmark’s goalie – Kasper Schmeichel – had a green light directed at his face just before Harry Kane took the controversial penalty at extra time – the goal that would secure England’s victory.
Schmeichel saved the penalty but England captain Kane scored the rebound as England now head into Sunday’s final against Italy.
England has also been charged with causing a “disturbance” during Denmark’s national anthem and setting off fireworks.
“The case will be dealt with by the Uefa Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body (CEDB) in due course,” said a statement from European football’s governing body.
