Batley and Spen result: Kim Leadbeater wins for Labour in sensational by-election comeback

The i says Sir Keir Starmer has survived the biggest test of his Labour leadership after Kim Leadbeater held on to Batley and Spen against all the odds after an acrimonious by-election campaign.

Labour’s candidate, the sister of former MP Jo Cox, who was murdered in the constituency in 2016, beat off a challenge from veteran campaigner George Galloway to stop the Tories from stealing the seat for the first time since 1997.
