Euro 2020: England v Germany – Bosses urged to let staff finish early for kickoff
Football fans are preparing to watch the highly-anticipated Euro 2020 clash between England and Germany and bosses are being urged to let their staff finish early so they can cheer England on.
Gareth Southgate has called on his players to make history and beat the Germans in the knockout stages of a major tournament for the first time since 1966.
Wembley will be buzzing with more than 40,000 fans for the last-16 game, which kicks off at 5 pm. Fans will be dreading a penalty shoot-out if neither side cannot be separated after 90 minutes and extra time. Wembley stadium will be dominated by England fans as Germany sits on the UK’s amber list.
Companies are being encouraged to be flexible with working hours so their staff can watch the match. More than one in five UK employees work evenings and weekends and Frances O’Grady, general secretary at the Trades Union Congress (TUC), said bosses should try to let staff who want to watch Euro 2020 games do so, “either at work or at home and then claim back their time afterwards”.
