No major lifting of restrictions in Wales before July
There will be no major relaxing of Covid-19 restrictions in Wales until July due to concerns over the Delta variant, BBC Wales has reported.
An announcement is scheduled by First Minister Mark Drakeford on Friday.
Ministers have been looking at easing restrictions that would allow more people to meet indoors, but cases are soaring and sources say there will not be any major changes to the current rules for the next four weeks.
On Wednesday, cabinet ministers met to discuss the latest scientific data.
Earlier in June, restrictions were eased around outdoor gatherings as the Welsh government introduced it’s Alert Level One – the lowest level on the gov’s coronavirus control plan.
Government ministers have been continually reviewing the situation before deciding whether other restrictions could be eased on 21 June.
Mr Drakeford will announce the next steps in a press conference on Friday, but sources say only “minor” changes are likely.
