Tottenham ease past inferior Aston Villa 2-0 – Premier League result
This Premier League fixture between Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur finished 2-0 to Tottenham following goals from Carlos Vinícius and Harry Kane.
Although Villa looked threatening early-on, they failed to create any real chances. As soon as Tottenham broke the deadlock, they looked way more in control of the game than the hosts, Villa.
Vinícius’ first Premier League goal gave Tottenham the lead
The first goal in this Premier League fixture between Aston Villa and Tottenham came for the visitors in the 29th minute.
A long ball over the top aimed for Carlos Vinícius was intercepted by Villa keeper Emiliano Martínez outside the Villa box.
However, Martínez’s clearance was poor and went straight to Lucas Moura half-way inside Villa’s half.
The Brazilian winger drove forward with the ball, playing a nice 1-2 pass with Tottenham star man, Harry Kane, before squaring it from the by-line.
Moura’s pass found an unmarked Carlos Vinícius, who had no problem tapping the ball into Villa’s net to mark his first Premier League goal.
Villa could only manage one shot on target all game
Despite Aston Villa looking promising early on in this game – before Tottenham’s first goal that is – Villa could only manage one shot on target, which came in the 59th minute.
After Villa’s original shot by Trézéguet was blocked by Tottenham defender Joe Rodon.
However, Villa got the ball back and recycled it out to John McGinn on the left-wing.
The Villa midfielder drove in, running along the edge of Tottenham’s box until the edge of the D, where his mediocre shot bounced into the arms of Tottenham captain Hugo Lloris.
Harry Kane penalty seals win for Tottenham
Tottenham’s second goal of this Premier League fixture came in the 68th minute after Kane won and scored a penalty.
Moura played a through ball to Kane on the left-hand side of Villa’s box, where Kane looked like he was about to cross it in.
However, instead of crossing, Kane simply steps over the ball, initiating the contact with the sliding Villa defender, Matthew Cash.
The penalty was given to Tottenham and Kane had no problem smashing his penalty into the bottom left corner, sending Martínez the wrong way.
