Markle exclusive speaks volumes but dad isn’t listening!

I see my old boss Piers Morgan (he was my editor when I worked at the Daily Mirror) has landed another great scoop for Good Morning Britain by interviewing Thomas Markle.

The interview caused a storm on Twitter on Monday for Morgan and his co-host Susanna Reid from people polarised by the father of Meghan Markle aka The Duchess of Sussex.

Having worked as a royal correspondent on Fleet Street, I can see why the story is definitely a headliner but I can’t help feeling a tad of pity for Thomas Markle who was paid not one penny for this latest interview.

However, I think someone needs to pull him aside and tell him the reason why Meghan seems to have cut off all ties with her father. She cut contact with him because he started giving interviews about her … and he’s doing it all over again.

Thomas Markle told Morgan and Red: “I’ve been nothing but nice”. Well that’s not entirely true either, is it? He had in the past insulted and verbally attacked his daughter, attacked Harry as well as his ex-Doria Ragland. he’s even had time to opine about Diana, the late Princess of Wales and called the royal family a cult.

He went on GMB with a message to Meghan stating: “I love you very much, you’re my daughter and I’d really like to hear from you. Whatever differences we have, we should be able to work them out, we’re family.”

He may be sincere but, speaking as someone who also comes from a dysfunctional family, Thomas now needs to keep schtum. If she’s cut you off maybe you handed her the knife, Thomas.

No response is a response, accept it and move on!
