    The Daily Mirror’s front slash features a picture of 8 “care home Covid victims” as it reports families are demanding an urgent inquiry following accusations Matt Hancock lied. Online, the Daily Mirror reports that travellers to the US could be allowed back in ‘within weeks’ and the paper continues its extensive coverage of Prince Harry.

    The Daily Mirror leads on claims Matt Hancock lied over the safety of care home residents, following Dominic Cummings’s accusations.

    Eight “care home Covid victims” are pictured on the front page of the Daily Mirror. Families are “demanding an urgent inquiry to find out why loved ones became ‘lambs to the slaughter”, it says.

    The Mirror Online says currently the US has sealed its borders to anyone who has been in the UK within 14 days of travel. The Foreign Office also advises against non-essential travel to country. 

    Fears for June 21 lockdown date as Indian Covid-19 variant doubles in a week

    The Mirror says there are now 6,959 UK cases of the B.1.617.2 strain as it becomes dominant – and that could spell trouble for step four of England’s lockdown roadmap.

    Hospital cases in Indian variant hotspots not rising fast and may peak next week

    The Mirror says hospitalisations are “ticking up” in areas suffering outbreaks but nowhere near levels seen in January and February amid hopes they could peak as soon as next week – paving the way for June 21 to progress as planned.
