2024 US election: Poll shows Trump ahead of Biden in all seven swing states
Former President Donald Trump is leading President Biden in all seven critical swing states and has an even larger margin in most states when also up against independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a new poll shows. The Emerson College poll released Tuesday reveals that Trump has the largest margins against Biden in North Carolina, Arizona, and Georgia, among others.
The poll also shows that with third-party candidates added in, Trump’s lead widens even further. RFK Jr. takes more votes away from Biden in several states, giving Trump a significant advantage in the race. However, Kennedy still needs to get on the ballot in all 50 states, with progress being made in Michigan, North Carolina, and Nevada.
The survey, conducted via cell phones and landlines, as well as an online panel, shows a 3% credibility interval and was carried out among 1,000 registered voters in each state. Spencer Kimball, executive director of Emerson College Polling, noted that the state of the presidential election in swing states has remained consistent since last November, with Biden gaining ground in some states but Trump maintaining a slight edge in others.

Interestingly, while Trump leads in the presidential race, the survey shows that the Republican lead is not transferring to Senate races. In Arizona, for example, Democrat Ruben Gallego is ahead of Republican Kari Lake in the Senate race to replace outgoing Sen. Kyrsten Sinema. Similar trends are seen in Senate races in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, and North Carolina.
Overall, the poll provides valuable insights into the current political landscape in key swing states, highlighting the dynamics of the upcoming elections and the potential impact of third-party candidates on the race.
