    The Metro –  No human remains under cafe, search for 1968 Fred West ‘victim’

    The front page of the Metro claims ‘DOMSHELL’ saying Cummings “savaged” his former boss but saved his harshest words for health secretary Matt Hancock. 

    Online the paper reports no human remains have been found in the cafe dug up by the police as they search for Mary Bastholm who went missing in 1968 at age 15. They believe Mary was a victim of serial killer Fred West. 

    The paper reports on lockdown 4 for Victoria, Australia as 7 million people are under a 7 day lockdown as the Indian variant spreads.

    Dominic Cummings: DOMSHELL 

    The Metro labels the claims made by Dominic Cummings about the government’s handling of the pandemic as ‘Domshell’. 

    The front splash features a picture of prime minister Boris Johnson and health secretary Matt Hancock towards the bottom of the front page. The paper says Cummings “savaged his former boss” but “saved his most damning words” for Matt Hancock.

    Online, the Metro claims Hancock has ‘come out fighting’ as he dismisses Cummings’ claims. 

    He said: ‘These allegations that were put yesterday – and repeated by (shadow health secretary Jon Ashworth) – are serious allegations and I welcome the opportunity to come to the House to put formally on the record that these unsubstantiated allegations around honesty are not true.

    No human remains found after cafe dug up in search for Fred West victim

    The Metro reports Police searching a cafe in Gloucester for missing teenager Mary Bastholm say they’ve found no human remains. The paper says detectives fear the 15-year-old girl was murdered by serial Fred West in 1968.

    The paper picks up on the news that Victoria – Australia’s second-most populous state – has been ordered into a snap lockdown this Thursday following an outbreak of the Indian variant.

    The paper online reports the author of The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Eric Carle has died at the age of 91. 

    Penguin Kids said: ‘It is with heavy hearts that we share that Eric Carle, author & illustrator of The Very Hungry Caterpillar and many other beloved classics, passed away on May 23rd at the age of 91.
