00s girl band confirm first gig 25 years after scorching debut single
A glorious British girl band from the 00s have announced they are reuniting to perform onstage together 25 years after their biggest hit single.
Supersister were part of the wave of iconic pop groups that blessed our ears at the turn of the millennium, with their success peaking in 2000 courtesy of hit single Coffee.
Taking to Instagram on Monday, they announced that they would be part of the line-up for Mighty Hoopla next summer.
‘We are performing at @mightyhoopla!!!! We will be on the Hayu stage SUNDAY 1st June 2025!!!!’ the thrilled post began on their official account, sharing the festival’s official poster.
’25 years since COFFEE was released !!!! We are so excited!!!!!! ☕️☕️☕️☕️,’ the group added.
That anthem, proclaiming a love of men who were ‘hot, strong and sweet’ (like coffee obviously), broke into the UK Top 20 in October 2000, placing at number 16 and staying on the chart for seven weeks.
Supersister is made up of Eleanor Phillips, Louise Fudge and Tina Peacock.
After signing to Gut Records at the turn of the millennium, they released three successfully charting singles.
Following Coffee’s success, they came out with single Shopping in August 2001, which made the UK Top 40, and Summer Gonna Come Again, which also charted in November of that year.
Their growing profile saw them support the likes of Steps and Hear’Say on tour in 2001.
However, in a twist of fate the group’s debut album, Lip Service, never got released after Gut Records went bankrupt in 2008.
Supersister had also been poised to sign a record deal across the pond in Americabut ultimately chose to call it a day as a band ahead of attempting to break the US.
Louise, Tina and Eleanor appear to have remained firm friends since their initial split, even as their careers took them in different directions over the years, with Louise retraining as a hairdresser and opening up her own award-nominated salon in around 2016.
The announcement of Supersister’s set at Mightly Hoopla was met with glee in the comment section on Instagram, after the singers teased it last month with a video labelled ‘reunion incoming’ on their social media.
‘AMAZING!!! Cannot wait!!! New single incoming?! x’ responded @gindanuk, while @kevgeb1983 added: ‘Last time I saw you girls live was in Glasgow at Smash Hits Tour. I can’t wait for this!’
They were also anticipated as ‘the highlight of my weekend’ at Hoopla for @dj.dallyn, as @ed_lemont shared his love of Supersister’s hit single.
‘So excited for Coffee live – that sound has stood the test of time and is going to sound so good live! x’
Although Supersister’s inclusion at Mighty Hoopla has lots of fans excited, others have blasted the two-day event in London’s Brockwell Park for its ‘disappointing’ line-up.
That’s despite acts including headliners Ciara and Kesha, who are joined by Jojo, Jamelia, Daniel Bedingfield, Mutya Buena, Vengaboys, G Flip, Pixie Lott, and Lemar.
