Xavi: Barcelona manager to leave at end of season
Barcelona manager Xavi has announced his decision to step down at the end of the season. The former Barcelona and Spain midfielder, who took charge in November 2021, led Barca to the Spanish title in the 2022-23 season.
However, a recent 5-3 home defeat by Villarreal has left them trailing La Liga leaders Real Madrid by 10 points.
Xavi, a 2010 World Cup winner, expressed his commitment to the club, stating, “I’ve given everything I have, and I will continue to do so to make the fans feel proud.”
Despite having a year left on his contract, the 44-year-old will officially leave on June 30, following discussions with Barcelona president Joan Laporta, vice-president Rafa Yuste, and sporting director Deco.
