Wrexham nurse sacked after death of secret lover patient in car park
Penelope Williams, a nurse who didn’t call an ambulance after a patient she was having an affair with collapsed and died, has been sacked.
Williams had been having a secret relationship with the man, known as Patient A.
In January 2022, the pair met up late at night in a hospital car park. Patient A was found unresponsive with his trousers down and died of heart failure and chronic kidney disease.
Williams has been struck off by the Nursing and Midwifery Council for bringing the profession into disrepute.
The hearing was told Patient A was found in the back of his own car at Wrexham’s Spire Hospital after the pair had met in the hospital’s car park.
The panel heard Williams had met the patient a year before. He had multiple health conditions and was receiving treatment in the unit where Willaims worked.
At a May disciplinary hearing, Williams admitted both the relationship and not calling an ambulance and was sacked.
She has now been struck from the nursing register.
