A woman who went viral trying to locate her pet parrot has been charged with drug offences.
Sandra Hannah, 43, from Liverpool, lost her winged friend Chanel in 2020.
She posted a livestream in which she loudly shouted the parrot’s name near her home in Liverpool, which led to a nationwide search for the African Grey parrot.
Hannah even appeared on ITV’s This Morning to tell her story.

Chanel, full name Chanel Chanellington, was later found.
Hannah thanked everyone who helped find her parrot in another video, saying: ‘If it wasn’t for you, we wouldn’t have found her.’
Today, the Liverpool Echo reported that Merseyside Police have now charged the 43-year-old parrot owner and Ian Hannah, 55, on suspicion of the importation of cannabis and possession of criminal property.
It comes after a joint operation between Merseyside Police and the National Crime Agency.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: ‘Over the past two days there has been a joint operation between Operation Pelican, Sefton Investigations Team and the National Crime Agency which has resulted in two adults being charged with the importation of 237.6kg of cannabis resin from Spain.
‘This has been valued at approximately £792,000.
‘Ian Hannah, 55, and Sandra Hannah, 43, of Cumberland Gate, Netherton have both been charged with importation of cannabis and possession of criminal property.
‘Hannah and Hannah have been remanded and will appear before the magistrates’ court this morning.’
