Woman is pushed down the stairs at Leytonstone High Road Overground station | UK News

A manhunt has been launched after a woman was pushed down the stairs and punched on the face at an east London Overground station.

Police released images of a man after a woman was pushed down the stairs before she was punched in the face.

The vicious attack happened at Leytonstone High Road Overground station on Sunday, June 2 at about 8.30pm.

The victim was walking down a stairwell and pushing her bike when the unknown man approached and pushed her down.

When she got outside the station, the same thug punched her in the face, causing her to fall to the ground.

Now detectives have released pictures of the man in bid to identify and speak with him.

A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said: ‘Officers believe the man in the CCTV image may have information that could help their investigation.’

The CCTV images show a man looking into the camera wearing a grey beanie hat, with a dark jacket carrying a large brown bag over his shoulder.

Anyone who recognises him or has other information is asked to contact British Transport Police by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 250 of 3 June.

To make an anonymous report, contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
