Sheffield woman hit and killed by car named after boy, 12, charged
UPDATE: The 12-year-old boy has now been charged with murder of Marcia Grant, 60 – who died after being hit by a car in Sheffield.
A 60-year-old woman, Marcia Grant, has been described as a “warm, loving” figure in her community after being hit by a car and killed in Sheffield.
The incident occurred in the Greenhill area of the city on Wednesday evening, and Mrs Grant died at the scene.
A 12-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder and possession of a bladed article and is in police custody.
Mrs Grant’s family released a statement requesting privacy as they try to cope with their “enormous loss.” The statement described her as a “warm, loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend and a pillar of her community”.
“Her loss has already sent shockwaves through all who knew her or was lucky enough to be included in her orbit,” they said, asking for privacy as they try to cope with “this enormous loss”.
A formal identification and post-mortem examination are yet to take place, according to the police.
Detective Chief Inspector Andrea Bowell has requested that the privacy of the families involved in the incident is respected as they attempt to comprehend what occurred.
