A 39-year-old woman wearing a Charlie Hebdo T-shirt was rushed to hospital after the attack at Speakers’ Corner in Hyde Park, London
Police have confirmed that a manhunt has been begun after a woman was stabbed at Speakers’ Corner, as they investigate the incident.
After the attack in London’s Hyde Park, where people gather for public talks and debates, 39-year-old women were transported to the hospital.
According to footage published on social media, someone clothed in black approached a woman wearing a Charlie Hebdo T-shirt.
The woman is then seen being carried into a police van by cops nearby, clutching her right hand close to her body and with what looks to be blood at her temple.
Officers were called to the scene following complaints that a woman being assaulted on Sunday at just after 3.30 pm (BST), according to the Metropolitan Police, who described it as “a very distressing incident” for the victim.
Women slashed at Speakers Corners
The woman had a minor slash injury to her head, according to a statement, and was treated by the London Ambulance Service before being brought to a hospital in central London.
Her injuries are not life-threatening, police said.
Officers from the borough of Westminster are working with officers from the specialist Metropolitan Police unit which patrols the royal parks to investigate and find the guilty.
According to police reports so far there have been no arrests.
“This was clearly a very distressing incident for the woman involved, and detectives spent time with her while she was being treated for her injury to gain an account of what happened,” said Detective Superintendent Alex Bingley of the Central West Command Unit, which covers policing in Westminster.
