William Saliba has agreed to sign a new four-year Arsenal deal and extend his contract until 2027, according to reports.

The France international only had one year remaining on his £40,000-a-week deal and Arsenal were becoming increasingly concerned by the negotiations.

There had been interest in the centre-back from other clubs in the Premier League and abroad but Arsenal have now reached an agreement with Saliba.

That’s according to The Athletic, who report that the new contract will now move into the ‘paperwork stage’ with both parties looking to get it signed.

Saliba impressed for Arsenal this season and was a key part of their Premier League title challenge before the Gunners lost him to injury in March.

The 22-year-old joined Arsenal from Saint-Etienne in July 2019 in a £27m transfer and broke into the first team in 2022-23 after several loan spells in France.

Saliba joins Arsenal team-mates Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Aaron Ramsdale in signing a new contract with the north London club.

Gunners legend Ian Wright recently hailed Saka, Martinelli and Saliba as the ‘future’ of Arsenal.

‘We know what [Martinelli] is capable of,’ Wright said. ‘Another one that has signed a new deal and we are happy to have him here.

‘He is the future for us. Him, Bukayo Saka and William Saliba are the future for us.’
