William Gallas expects Mason Mount to struggle this season but says fellow Manchester United summer signing Andre Onana will be ‘fine’.
United spent £60m to sign Mount from Chelsea earlier in the summer, while Onana completed a £47m move to Old Trafford from Inter Milan.
Mount and Onana both started Manchester United’s Premier League opener against Wolves on Monday as Erik ten Hag’s side rode their luck to make a winning start to the new season.
Gallas believes it will take time for Mount to adjust to United’s style of play and says he could face a ‘difficult’ first season at the Theatre of Dreams.
But the ex-Premier League defender insists Onana will be ‘fine’ for Manchester United despite concerns over the Cameroonian goalkeeper.
‘It’s not easy for Chelsea fans to see Mason Mount wearing the Manchester United shirt, but he will have to adapt to the United system, and that won’t be easy for him,’ Gallas told Genting Casino.

On Ten Hag’s new No. 1 Onana, Gallas added: ‘Erik ten Hag signed Onana because he wants his goalkeeper to play almost like the last defender. He wants them to be calm with the ball at their feet and to play like a defender.
‘I think it will be different from Serie A in Italy, as in the Premier League he will have less time to choose what he wants to do with the ball.
‘I saw the quality he has already and he will have to adapt to the new system. I think he will be fine though.’
Manchester United continue their Premier League campaign on Saturday with a trip to north London to face Tottenham.
