This Morning will return tomorrow (Picture: ITV)
It’s very rare that This Morning doesn’t air at its usual time of 10am on weekdays.
However, today the ITV programme has been pulled off air, with the show set to return on Wednesday morning instead.
This week, it was officially confirmed that Rishi Sunak had been named the new Prime Minister after Liz Truss’ resignation.
News coverage around the latest goings-on of British politics continues to grip the nation (we’re still reeling from a lettuce outlasting Ms Truss in office).
Recently on This Morning, Alison Hammond even jokingly delivered her own manifesto if she were ever to take on the role, saying: ‘So my first manifesto point would have to be, times are tough – no bills, there are absolutely no tax, and no bills whatsoever.’
Why is This Morning not on today?
Today (Tuesday October 25), This Morning is a no-show on the ITV schedule.
The reason why is because the long-running programme has been replaced by an ITV News Special.
Following the resignation of Ms Truss as Prime Minister, a brief Tory leadership race resulted in Mr Sunak being named the new Conservative leader, coming out on top over Boris Johnson and Penny Mourdant, who both took themselves out of the running.
Today, the new PM – who previously served as Chancellor of the Exchequer – is set to deliver his first speech since taking over the position.

His speech is due to take place at 11.30am, with the politician addressing the nation outside 10 Downing Street shortly after having an audience with King Charles III, during which he will be formally confirmed as the new Prime Minister.
Prior to Mr Sunak’s speech, Ms Truss held her final Cabinet meeting from 9am.
At 10.15am, she’s due to give one last speech outside 10 Downing Street, before she’s due to head to Buckingham Palace to formally resign as PM in front of the King.
This Morning typically airs weekdays from 10am on ITV.
