The Euro 2024 last-16 draw was finalised on Wednesday evening and the first fixtures of the knockout stage will begin this weekend.

England are one of the teams who have safely made it through to the last 16, despite their string of poor performances, with the Three Lions finishing top of Group C courtesy of a win over Serbia and draws against Denmark and Slovenia.

Gareth Southgate’s side will now play Slovakia in their last-16 tie on Sunday at 5pm.

Let’s take a look at which teams have already been knocked out of Euro 2024 and which sides have qualified for the knockout stage with the Round of 16 draw and schedule.

Which teams have qualified for the Euro 2024 last 16?

Germany sealed the top spot in Group A with a 1-1 draw against Switzerland on Sunday, who finished as runners-up.

Spain made light work of the so-called ‘Group of Death’ with victories over Croatia, Italy and Albania seeing them qualify as group winners.

Italy snatched a last-gasp draw against Croatia on Monday night to secure second spot in Group B.

England are joined in the last 16 by Group C rivals Denmark, whilst Slovenia’s point against England is enough to see them qualify for the knockout stages for the first time in their history.

Ralf Rangnick’s impressive Austria side were the surprise winners of Group D, finishing first ahead of France and Netherlands.

Portugal booked their place in the Round of 16 as group winners with wins against Czech Republic and Turkey, although they were beaten 2-0 by Georgia in their final group game on Wednesday night.

Georgia, Netherlands, Slovakia and Slovenia are the four best third-placed teams,

Which teams have been knocked out of Euro 2024?

Poland became the first team to be knocked out of Euro 2024 after picking up just one point in group B – a respectable 1-1 draw against France.

Scotland’s wait to reach the knockouts of a major tournament go on after they finished bottom of Group A, with Sunday’s defeat to Hungary ending the small hopes they had of qualifying as one of the four-best third-place teams.

Steve Clarke’s men opened their Euro 2024 campaign with a 5-1 defeat to Germany, followed by a 1-1 draw with Switzerland and then the 1-0 defeat to the Hungarians.

Albania, despite their competitive performances, finished bottom of Group B behind Spain, Italy and Croatia, whilst Serbia have joined the Albanians by heading for an early exit having finished bottom of England’s group.

Croatia were cruelly dumped out of Euro 2024 after conceding a last minute equaliser vs Italy, with their two points not enough to see them progress as one of the best third-place sides.

Ukraine became the first team in the history of the European Championship to end the group stage with four points but fail to reach the knockout stage.

Elsewhere, Czech Republic finished bottom of Group F after their last-gasp defeat to Turkey.
