David Jonsson has been steadily carving an impressive career in film and TV and his next role is a scene-stealer in the BBC thriller Murder Is Easy.
The 30-year-old plays Luke Fitzwilliam, and is the first Black actor to lead an Agatha Christie adaptation on screen in the Christmas special, which begins tonight (December 27).
The two-parter, which also stars Lord of the Rings’ Morfydd Clark, followsFitzwilliam as he investigates a series of puzzling murders in the sleepy British village of Wychwood under Ashe.
However, eagle-eyed fans will recognise David from other TV work, after he made his on-screen debut five years ago in two episodes of ITV detective drama Endeavour.
His next role was the recurring character Isaac Turner in Fox UK espionage thriller Deep State, which features Mark Strong in the lead role of a former MI6 agent.
David’s break-out role was in Lena Dunham’s BBC financial drama, Industry, as Augustus ‘Gus’ Sackey, while his next small screen part will be in the comedy drama The Road Trip on Paramount Plus.

Over in film, David played the main role in the London-based romantic drama, Rye Lane, winning critical acclaim for his performance alongside Vivian Oparah.
He will soon make his Hollywood debut in the next instalment of the Alien franchise and will also appear in the upcoming historical drama, set in 1940s Berlin, Bonhoeffer.
David grew up in east London, the youngest of four siblings, and was raised by his Met police officer mum and IT engineer father.

After school, he won a full scholarship at New York’s American Academy of Dramatic Arts, where Paul Rudd also studied, before training at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London.
David began his acting career in the theatre, with his debut being in the play Mary Stuart at the Almedia Theatre.

Murder Is Easy premieres tonight on BBC One and iPlayer at 9pm.
