Manchester City have taken control of the Premier League title race with a 4-1 win over rivals Arsenal at the Etihad.
But while Arsenal are still sat at the top of the Premier League table, few would now bet against Manchester City going on to lift their third successive title when the competition ends next month.
Arsenal have 75 points with five games still left to play, whilst Manchester City are on 73 points but with two games in hand.
Let’s take a look a look at what both clubs need to do to get their hands on the famous trophy.
What Manchester City need to do to win the Premier League
Quite simply, if Manchester City win all of their remaining fixtures, they will be crowned Premier League champions for a third season in a row.

This would leave City on 94 points, which would be unassailable for Arsenal even if the Gunners win all of their games between now and the end of the season as that would leave them on 90 points.
In the event that Arsenal do indeed emerge victorious in every one of their games, City could afford to drop three points and still win the title.
However, if Pep Guardiola’s men were to drop four points and Arsenal max out on wins, then goal difference would be used to determine the winner.
City’s goal difference is currently 52, whilst Arsenal’s is 41.

What Arsenal need to do to win the Premier League
Arsenal may well have to ensure they win all of their outstanding fixtures between now and the end of the Premier League season if they are to have any chance of lifting the title.
However, with a trip to Champions League-chasing Newcastle and a difficult-looking home clash with Roberto De Zerbi’s high-flying Brighton, Arsenal will have a difficult task in ensuring they hit 90 points to pile the pressure on their title rivals.
Until recently, Arsenal boasted an eight-point lead over Manchester City, but their three successive draws to Liverpool, West Ham and Southampton along with the damaging defeat to City means the Premier League title is no longer in their hands.
Their only hope is to perform as best they can, get the wins, and hope that Man City drop points across the final weeks of the season.
