‘Weird sex scenes’ in Amazon Prime movie shock viewers who warn ‘don’t watch with parents’

‘Tis the season to watch festive movies with the family and why not start with the latest hit film which landed on Amazon Prime in time for Christmas– Saltburn.

Emerald Fennell’s black comedy impressed audiences during it’s month-long run in cinemas as a critique of excess and obsession and class wealth.

Seemingly innocent, the movie – set in 2006 – follows a young Oxford student as he joins his friend’s wealthy family at their home, Saltburn, for the summer.

Saltburn boasts a some huge stars in it’s cast, including Marvel’s Barry Keoghan starring opposite Priscilla’s Jacob Elordi as well as Rosamund Pike, Richard E. Grant, and Carey Mulligan.

With high praise and big names, the film is an obvious choice for Christmas viewing but families have been caught off-guard by some quite graphic and ‘weird’ sex scenes.

Those in the know have been causing havoc in their households, while unknowing viewers are left in shock after the infamous ‘bathtub scene’.

MP Jess Phillips tweeted: ‘In other news my son and I loved Saltburn and I’m stunned at how in a single generation we seem to have learned to cope with watching weird sex scenes across the parental child divide. Bravo @emeraldfennell it’s hella weird.’

In her replies one woman, Anneliese Midgley, shared: ‘I’ve literally just text a pal to say do not watch Saltburn with Mum’s… It’s an incredible film.’

‘I thought it was an absolute hoot but my partner hated it. No way I could have ever watched it with my parents though without absolutely melting,’ added Sarah Chev.

While Jess seemed fairly calm about watching it with her son, other X users were less chill as Jae wrote: ‘DON’T WATCH SALTBURN TOGETHER AS A FAMILY.’

‘If you are looking for a fun film to watch with your family on Christmas, don’t accidentally put on #Saltburn Just trust me on this,’ warned K Dubbs.

While it looks idyllic the film is not for family viewing (Picture: Amazon Prime)

Ahead of the film’s release, Emerald told Metro.co.uk: ‘We were all very, very dedicated to make something incredibly personal and unique and honest feeling, and in many ways, a lot of Saltburn is a little exposing or complicated.

‘And I say that as the person who thought it in the first place! So if anyone should be asking any sort of questions about sanity, for example, they should leave them maybe at my door….’

Fools ignored the internet’s warning and shared their mistake at watching the film with various family members.

‘I disregarded the internet’s content warning and watched Saltburn with my parents… literally nothing could have prepared me that movie,’ said Cecilia.

Shivali Best wrote: ‘Learned the hard way that Saltburn is most definitely not a family-friendly Christmas Eve movie.’

Apple Kaurr shared they had willingly chosen to watch it with their family but it had been ‘turned off’ and they had been ‘told to go for a walk’.

The X user shared a test from their mum reading: ‘When you come back I want you to apologise to everyone you d**khead.’

This is your final warning not to watch it as a family but Saltburn is streaming now on Amazon Prime.
