Weezer’s Scott Shriner plays at Coachella days after wife’s shooting
Weezer star Scott Shriner returned to stage for Coachella this week – only four days after his wife was shot and arrested by police.
The bassist’s wife, Jillian Lauren Shriner, 51, was shot in the shoulder by officers outside their home in Eagle Rock, Los Angeles after allegedly pointing a gun at cops who were trying to catch a hit-and-run suspect nearby.
After she was ordered to drop the handgun ‘numerous times’, police said Jillian ‘refused, pointed the handgun at the officers, and an Officer-Involved Shooting occurred’.
The police said she fled to her home where she was taken into custody, before being transferred to hospital by paramedics for treatment on the non-life threatening gunshot wound.
She has since been absentee booked for attempted murder and released on a $1million bond.
In the wake of this bizarre incident, husband Scott, 59, returned to the stage for this Saturday’s Coachella.
Scott joined his bandmates as they played a number of fan-favourites for the crowd, including Pork and Beans, Hash Pipe and My Name is Jonas.
For the set, the bassist wore a short-sleeve buttoned-up shirt with blue jeans, a leopard print guitar strap thrown over his shoulder.
After Coachella, alternative rock icons Weezer are also booked for Glastonbury in June, returning after a 30-year absence.
Prior to his Coachella appearance, Scott issued an update on his wife, telling journalists that she was ‘alright’ following the incident.
