Everton’s Premier League points deduction reduced after appeal as Toffees release statement
Everton say they have been “vindicated” after their Premier League points deduction for alleged breaches of financial rules was reduced to six following an appeal.
The Toffees were handed an unprecedented 10-point punishment in November after being found guilty of breaking the league’s profit and sustainability rules for the three-season period between 2019/20 and 2021/22. Clubs are permitted maximum losses of £105m on a three-year cycle, which Everton were judged to have fallen foul of by recording losses of £124.5m.
The return of four points means Everton are now 15th in the Premier League table and five points clear of the relegation places. According to the Premier League, Everton pointed to nine different factors in their appeal and two of those were accepted, leading to a lesser sanction being imposed.

Liverpool’s next 8 promising youngsters waiting for Jurgen Klopp’s call
The pipeline of youth talent at Anfield is flowing freely again.
The club that gave football Robbie Fowler, Steve McManaman, Michael Owen, Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher and Trent Alexander-Arnold is producing young players in abundance. Sunday’s Carabao Cup Final gave many their heads and Liverpool won with teenagers Bobby Clark, Jayden Danns and James McConnell on the pitch.
By then, the hugely-impressive 20-year-old Connor Bradley had gone off, but 20-year-old Harvey Elliott, who is the fourth youngest player in the club’s history to make 100 appearances, and the 21-year–old Jarell Quansah were playing. Danns, who is the 18-year-old son of former Premier League defender Neil, must be pinching himself at his rapid rise and he only made his debut against Luton on Wednesday before making his second appearance at Wembley.

Pep Guardiola gives Xabi Alonso verdict as Bayern Munich prepare huge offer to usurp Liverpool
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has given a ringing endorsement of Xabi Alonso as Liverpool compete with Bayern Munich for his signature.
Alonso has emerged as the most in-demand manager in Europe after taking Bayer Leverkusen to the top of the Bundesliga by playing an eye-catching style. Leverkusen are eight points clear of Bayern in the German top flight and have set a new record for a Bundesliga club by going 33 games unbeaten in all competitions.
The former Liverpool midfielder is proving to be hugely successful in his first senior managerial role and has inevitably been linked with other jobs. With Jurgen Klopp stepping down at Liverpool in the summer and Thomas Tuchel leaving Bayern at the same juncture, Alonso has found himself in the middle of a high-profile tug-of-war, with Bayern willing to quadruple his wages to £20million per year to land him.
