Virgin Media customers across the UK are facing connectivity problems this morning after being hit with an unexpected outage.

Reports have accumulated on DownDetector, a website that records outages, as well as on Twitter.

Problems seemingly started for frustrated Virgin Media customers from around 1am.

The issue seems to have peaked around 10.50am with over 1,300 users reporting that their internet was not working.

Majority of users (83%) have reported issues with accessing their email while 11% are having problems with their Landline Internet. A few users (7%) have reported a ‘total blackout’.

One user from the West Midlands commented on DownDetector that Virgin had told them that ‘all email servers have been down since just after 6am this morning’.

The latest update is a fix should be implemented by 2pm this afternoon, according to the user.

A few users have reported a ‘total blackout’.
