Bottas Discusses Cadillac’s Debut in F1
The American team, set to join the Formula 1 fold next season, has been actively scouting talent to fill its two anticipated driver seats. Team Principal Graeme Lowdon revealed that at least six drivers are under consideration, with sources indicating that Sergio Pérez remains a frontrunner for a seat with Cadillac.
Bottas, known for his competitive spirit and experience in the sport, declared during his appearance on F1’s Beyond the Grid podcast that he is focused on securing a future in F1: “I’m not done yet.”
Bottas’s Experience Could Be a Game-Changer
Reflecting on his past successes with top teams, Bottas shared how his diverse experience could benefit Cadillac. He noted, “I think my experience will help because now I’ve raced in three different teams, one of which had mega success.” Such insights could be pivotal as Cadillac shapes its inaugural lineup.
The Finnish driver also addressed the team’s pace in finalizing its roster, stating, “I don’t think they’re in a massive rush,” suggesting a thoughtful approach to team building. Bottas mentioned he hopes to finalize his plans by August, maintaining an optimistic outlook on the situation.
A Fresh Start with New Opportunities
Bottas sees Cadillac’s entry into Formula 1 as a unique opportunity to influence the development of a team from the ground up. “For me, I actually see a very interesting project,” he said, highlighting the chance to foster a distinctive direction in the sport.
“I think the rule change is always a good point to jump in because you never know,” he added, emphasizing the unpredictability and excitement of starting from scratch.
Bottas Remains Eager to Compete
Despite being left without a seat this year after Sauber’s decision to let him go, Bottas remains driven. “I definitely still feel… that I’m not done yet with F1,” he affirmed. “It’s still [the] number one thing in my life… now I really start to miss racing.”
As debate swirls about potential drivers for the new team, Bottas’s enthusiasm and experience may solidify his position as a key contender for a place in the 2024 season.
