Chelsea beat Barcelona 1-0 in the first leg of the Women’s Champions League semi-finals. It marked Barcelona’s first loss on home soil in five years.
The Blues go into the second leg leading 1-0 on aggregate. They will welcome Barcelona to Stamford Bridge in front of more than 35,000 fans.
It’s only a narrow lead, but Chelsea should be filled with confidence after leaving the world’s number one player Aiatan Bonmati visibly rattled in her post-match interview.
Critics will say Chelsea remain the underdog, but Emma Hayes’s side should go into the match knowing they have the ability to control the game and dictate the result. Another superb performance from Jess Carter will be needed for the Blues to make it to the final.

Chelsea vs Barcelona prediction
Chelsea will be confident knowing not only do they have the advantage but also an almost sold-out crowd behind them. It’s also a later match compared to the earlier kick-off in the Spanish sun – conditions may favour the English side more than the Spanish. The Blues’ gave an impressive team performance in the first leg, and big performances will be needed all around. Jess Carter will be Chelsea’s most important player. They will need her to have a repeat performance of the first leg.
Barcelona will be looking for revenge. Given their response to the first leg loss (claiming Chelsea played ‘dirty’), its clear Barca’s star player is rattled. It might be the perfect time for the Blues to strike. But its Bara and they won’t roll over, it should be a thrilling match to watch.
