US tells Israel it won’t join any retaliatory strikes on Iran
The US has told Israel it will not participate in any retaliatory strikes on Iran, according to senior administration officials.
Over 300 drones and missiles were fired at Israel overnight, which Iran said was in response to the strike on the Iranian consulate in Syria.
Almost all the strikes launched by Iran were shot down by Israeli, US and allied forces before they reached their targets.
Joe Biden told Israel to consider its response to the attack “carefully,” according to officials.
Biden told Israel’s PM Benjamin Netanyahu to “think very carefully and strategically” about how his forces respond to the attack – the very first direct attack by Iran on the country.
Around 99% of the missiles, drones and cruise missiles launched during the retaliatory operation were shot down or intercepted.
