US reports death of senior Hamas military leader Marwan Issa
The White House says senior Hamas leader Marwan Issa has been killed in an Israeli air strike.
He is believed to be Hama’s most senior leader to be killed since the war began on 7 October.
Hamas has not officially reported on his death. Still, Israeli media sources have reported Issa was killed in a strike on a tunnel complex under the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza last week.
Issa was considered one of Israel’s most wanted men. He was linked directly to the 7 October attack led by the Hamas military wing – Izzedine al-Qassam Brigades – in which Issa was deputy commander.
