UK records highest daily Covid death toll since February with 438 fatalities
The Metro says The UK has seen its highest daily death toll in 11 months with another 438 people dying with Covid in the latest 24 hour period.
It is the largest figure since February 24, 2021, when 442 deaths were reported among people who had tested positive within 28 days.
It brings the total for the last seven days to 1,904, a 14.7% increase on the week before.
The number of deaths however are still far below the peak in January last year, due to the protection provided by the vaccines.
