The i says Rishi Sunak’s allies have leapt to his defence amid rumours the Prime Minister considered demoting him.
Sources close to the Chancellor say he is “solely focused on securing the country’s economic recovery” following allegations made about an apparently furious Boris Johnson in the Sunday Times.
The article suggests that the PM made the comment following the leak of a letter from Mr Sunak calling for the easing of travel restrictions ahead of the official update announced on Wednesday about further relaxations.
