‘I was depressed’ Single mum devastated as £1,031 of her Universal Credit withheld
The Daily Express says SINGLE mum Fausia said she “really struggled” after the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) had withheld a month’s worth of her Universal Credit payments.
The mum of three was denied £1,031 after failing to supply the Department with the relevant identification documents they needed. An estimated 1,000 people are being investigated over their Universal Credit claims made during the Covid pandemic because the DWP is suspicious about them.
Some people have been asked to verify their identity but have failed to meet the deadline for these checks resulting in them having to pay back thousands to the DWP.
